1999 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve
Tasting notes
Virginia Gov Cup Gold/Case winner – 2021
1999 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve– Limited bottles available (88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot)
Our second vintage of Cabernet Sauvignon from D-Block here at Breaux Vineyards, our oldest remaining vineyard block, the 1999 growing season delivered the ripeness and concentration needed to produce our first Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon. Mature notes of dried cocoa, leather, and cedar have developed beautifully with age, layered alongside the complexity of mixed barrel toasts. Nearly 40% new oak helped balance the elevated alcohol levels typical of our early vintages, contributing added sweetness, structure, and depth. Extended aging of just over 28 months in barrel built impressive length and finish in its youth, while decades in bottle have allowed the wine to evolve into a seamless and beautifully rounded expression of aged Virginia Cabernet Sauvignon.
