2021 Valle Tranquilo
Introducing.....Valle Tranquilo (Tranquil Valley)
Nestled between the Short Holl mountain and the Blue Ridge, our "peaceful valley" is the Northern Gateway to Virginia's Wine Country. Tranquil and picturesque, the rolling landscape of the Loudoun Heights Agritourism Trail unfolds to reveal wineries, breweries, culinary delights, and historic adventures. Valle Tranquilo is the culmination of our shared passions, showcasing artisnal vintners working collaboratively to create unforgettable experiences for our guests, in both glass and heart.
The Loudoun Heights Agritourism Council is committed to telling the story of Northern Loudoun County with the release of its first collaborative wine, the 2019 Valle Tranquilo. This bold red blend of 25% Merlot (Breaux Vineyards), 25% Cabernet Franc (868), 25% Petit Verdot (Two Twisted Posts), and 25% Tannat (Hillsborough Vineyards) is a full-bodied wine, perfect for enjoying this winter or for cellaring for enjoyment in years to come.
Wine created from friendship - what an amazing collaboration
Breaux Vineyards, Hillsborough Winery & Brewery, 868 Estate Vineyards, and Two Twisted Posts Winery each brought a barrel of single-varietal, estate-grown wine from their 2019 vintage to Hillsborough Winery where the four winemakers tasted the wines and experimented with different blends to create the 2019 Valle Tranquilo.
Loudoun County, VA (September 20, 2023) –
The Loudoun Heights Agritourism Council continues to tell the story of Northern Loudoun County viticulture with the release of its third collaborative wine, the 2021 Valle Tranquilo. This red blend of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Tannat is a medium-bodied, lightly oaked wine with lush flavors of red currants, dried cherries, chocolate, and pomegranates, perfect for enjoying this winter or cellaring for enjoyment in years to come.
Breaux Vineyards, Hillsborough Winery & Brewery, 868 Estate Vineyards, Doukenie Winery, and Two Twisted Posts Winery each contributed estate-grown Loudoun County wines and created this winning blend together.
A contest was held to select the art for the 2021 Valle Tranquilo label. From more than fifty art entries received, Loudoun artist Hope Hanes’s “Between Showers” was selected as representing the landscape of Loudoun wineries. Hope will be signing bottles at Breaux Vineyards on 12/2/23 at the holiday open house. Make sure to reserve your bottle today!
Only 120 cases of the wine were produced. For those eager to experience the Valle Tranquilo, it will be available for purchase at each participating winery’s tasting room starting Friday, September 22, 2023. A portion of the proceeds raised from wine sales will support future initiatives of the LHATC, including fundraising for charitable causes in Loudoun County.
