2021 Nebbiolo

The Nebbiolo grape, often called the blood grape, comes from the Piedmont region of Italy and a sub-region called Nebbiolo.  This is an old grape that dates back to the 7th century and the writings of a monk.  From that time to the early part of the 1700s, it was reserved for the exclusive use of the Italian nobility earning the title "The King of Wine" and "The Wine of Kings."

Light and fruity up front, this wine contains all the power one would expect from the Nebbiolo grape. Awash with red fruit there is a soft blanket of rosehips that sits lightly upon the fruit only to reveal the core of tannins at the end.

Notes from Adam 3/6/2026 A classic Breaux Vineyards Nebbiolo, defined by vibrant fruit expression and aromatics. The nose is highly expressive, with perfumed notes of choke cherry and raspberry complemented by lifted floral notes of dried rose that linger on the palate. Nebbiolo’s naturally high acidity contributes to a salivating, juicy mouthfeel that enhances both freshness and drinkability.

In an effort to preserve the varietal’s natural vibrancy, the wine is aged for only 13 months in oak with a lower percentage of new barrels than our traditional Bordeaux-style wines. A combination of light and medium toast barrels was selected to maintain the freshness and aromatic clarity of the variety while providing subtle structural support. A small addition of Merlot broadens the mid-palate, adding softness and roundness that helps integrate Nebbiolo’s naturally firm tannic structure.
