2007 Merlot

2007 Merlot
2007 Merlot

Merlot is one of the five primary Bordeaux grapes.  Our 2007 Merlot is comprised of 100% Merlot grapes and makes a wonderful single varietal wine because of its soft, fruity, smooth yet smoky characteristics.  This wine gets a lot of its spiciness from the new American Oak where much of it was aged.  This is a wine that you can drink right away, but it will also stand up and be delicious for several years to come.

Tasting Notes:

Color:  Garnet

Aromas:  Dark fruits, especially blackberry, currant and plum.  Cocoa powder, cloves and anise, along with cinnamon and vanilla from the oak, and a little smokiness

Taste:  Firm acidity and distinct spiciness, with smooth tannins

Food Pairing:  Best with any charred or grilled meats.  Also pairs well with cheddar or brie cheese, and of course chocolate
